What is the purpose of the research?
- The purpose of the research is to study access to different information and communication technologies (such as computer, mobile phone and Internet) in Brazilian households and how people aged 10 and over use these technologies in their daily lives.
Why is this research important?
- The study contributes to the development of the Internet in Brazil and to the construction of public policies for digital inclusion. Additionally, it allows other researchers to investigate how technology can benefit people's lives.
How is the research conducted?
The research is conducted nationwide, in households randomly selected based on the 2022 Census from the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics). The questionnaires contain questions that enable an understanding of access to existing technologies and the usage habits of citizens. These questionnaires are administered by interviewers properly identified with a badge from Ipec - Intelligence in Research and Consulting, which is the company responsible for the interviews.
Each household is subject to an in-person interview. If there are children or adolescents aged 9 to 17 in the household, they may be selected to respond to the TIC Kids Online Brazil survey questionnaire, aimed at understanding Internet usage among this population.
To ensure the quality of the results, it is essential that the selected person collaborates with the research. The methodology used does not allow another resident to respond on their behalf.
About Ipec
Ipec was recently acquired by Ipsos, one of the world leaders in market research. For conducting the TIC Domicílios and TIC Kids Online Brazil 2025 interviews, the field teams present themselves and are identified as Ipec interviewers.
What happens to the information provided?
All information regarding each of the selected households is consolidated with that of all other interviewed households to calculate results for the entire country. The confidentiality of personal information is guaranteed.
