The Regional Center for Studies on the Development of the Information Society (Cetic.br) launched, on August 3, the TIC Health 2022 book. The publication, which besides the survey data, provides an analysis of the results and articles by national and international experts in the field of digital health, was presented during the seminar “Brazilian Panorama of Digital Health: advances and challenges,” organized by the Regional Nursing Council (COREN-SP).

After the presentation of the main indicators, made by Luciana Portilho, coordinator of TIC Health, and mediated by Alexandre Barbosa, manager of Cetic.br, there was a discussion panel on the survey results. During the debate, the future of digital health and the challenges for its advancement, especially regarding data protection and the adoption of interoperable information systems, were also discussed.

The seminar's opening ceremony included the presence of Ana Estela Haddad (Information and Digital Health Secretariat of the Ministry of Health), Renata Mielli (Coordinator of CGI.br), Heloisa Peres (Coordinator of COREN-SP's Technical Nursing Chamber in Digital Health), and James dos Santos (President of COREN-SP).

Marizelia Leão (National Council of Municipal Health Secretariats - Conasems); Antonio Lira (President of the Health Informatics Society – SBIS); and Luis Gustavo Kiatake (Director of Institutional Relations of SBIS) participated in the panel. Moderation was led by Heimar Marin, Scientific Coordinator of TIC Health.

9th edition
Conducted since 2013 by Cetic.br, a department of the Brazilian Network Information Center (NIC.br) linked to the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br), TIC Health aims to map ICT infrastructure and the adoption of information and communication technology-based systems and applications in health facilities. The study also measures the appropriation of these technologies by medical and nursing professionals.

“Highlights of the 9th edition include information on the use of digital health by doctors and nurses, presenting a comparison between the years 2019 and 2022, that is, between the pre- and post-pandemic periods. The survey identified growth in the adoption of technologies by these professionals,” summarizes Alexandre Barbosa, manager of Cetic.br.

Before being presented to the press at the end of last year, the results of the most recent edition of the study were released at the Brazilian Congress of Health Informatics (CBIS 2022), which took place between November and December of that year.
