What is the purpose of the research?
- The TIC Providers survey aims to map the infrastructure for access and Internet services provision in Brazil. It provides a comprehensive overview of the Internet access provision sector in the country, which includes the profile of providers, the services offered, and the market of operation; the technological infrastructure used in access and offered speeds; issues related to the use of the Internet Exchange Point (IX.br) and IPv6 activation, among other information.
What is the importance of research?
- Digital inclusion in Brazil fundamentally depends on the expansion of technological infrastructure aimed at providing Internet access. The ICT Providers survey will help map the country's technological infrastructure and thereby contribute with information for the formulation of public policies and investment decisions for the sector.
Who supports the conduct of the research?
- The research has the institutional support of the main Internet service providers associations. The initiative is also supported by public bodies, such as the Ministry of Communications (MC), the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), and the National Education and Research Network (RNP), which together with representatives of civil society, form the group of experts committed to validating the various methodological aspects of the research.
Who is the target audience of the research?
- The universe addressed in the research comprises companies that have a license granted by Anatel to provide Multimedia Communication Services (SCM) and are Internet access providers in Brazil.
How will the research be conducted?
- The questionnaires are administered by researchers from Ipec - Intelligence in Research and Consultancy, which is the research institute responsible for collecting information from the providers.
What happens to the information I give the interviewer?
- The responses of each interviewee will always be grouped with those of all other survey participants, who also answer the same questions. The respondent and the institution they represent will never be identified.
