What is the survey objective?
The objective of the survey is to understand the adoption of information and communication technologies, such as computers and the Internet, in Brazilian healthcare facilities and their use by professionals in the field.
In 2026, the thirteenth edition of the ICT in Health survey will take place, which occurs annually. The results of previous editions can be checked here.
What is the importance of the survey?
The collected data will be used as a basis for formulating and evaluating public policies related to the use of these technologies by the establishments that make up the Brazilian health system, aiming at improvements in the quality of care.
Who supports the realization of the survey?
The survey has the institutional support of the Ministry of Health, through the Secretariat of Information and Digital Health (Seidigi), the National Agency for Supplementary Health (ANS), the National Council of Municipal Health Secretariats (CONASEMS), as well as other representatives of the government, civil society, and specialists linked to universities.
On an international level, the study is also supported by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and the Statistical Conference of the Americas (CEA) of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean of the UN (ECLAC).
How will the survey be conducted?
Interviews will be conducted with professionals linked to health establishments through questionnaires developed to better understand the access infrastructure to these technologies and the use that doctors and nurses make of them in their daily routines.
The questionnaires will be administered by researchers from Ipsos-Ipec, which is the research institute responsible for collecting information from health establishments and professionals.
About Ipsos-IpecIpsos-Ipec (https://www.ipsos.com/pt-br) is the company responsible for conducting the interviews for the ICT in Health 2026 survey. During data collection, the teams conducting the telephone interviews identify themselves as interviewers from Ipsos-Ipec.
How will data be collected?
In even years, there are two questionnaires, administered by phone:
1. The first questionnaire is intended for general managers or those responsible for the information technology area of the surveyed establishments. It investigates the infrastructure and access to information and communication technologies in health establishments.
2. The second questionnaire is aimed at doctors and nurses working in these establishments. It investigates the use and appropriation of these technologies, especially in their professional activities in the surveyed establishment.
In odd years, only the first questionnaire is administered, aimed at general managers or those responsible for the information technology area of the surveyed establishments.
When will the survey period take place?
The phone calls to healthcare facilities and professionals will occur between February and August 2026.
Where will the survey be conducted?
The survey will be conducted throughout the national territory, in public and private health establishments randomly selected by Cetic.br from the National Registry of Health Establishments (CNES) of the Ministry of Health.
Why was the establishment where I work selected to participate in the survey? And why was I selected?
A random selection of health establishments was conducted from the National Register of Health Establishments (CNES) of the Ministry of Health. In each selected establishment, in even years, at least one interview with a doctor and a nurse will be conducted, depending on the size of the health establishment.
For the study results to reflect the reality of the country, it is very important that all selected establishments and professionals collaborate by responding to the survey.
What will happen to the information I gave to the interviewer?
They will be grouped with the answers of thousands of other people who will also answer the same questions. The information will be consolidated and the respondent will never be identified, meaning the results collected from all respondents will be calculated together to represent a total value for the entire country.
